Antioch, Gateway to the Delta, is located on the banks of the San Joaquin River near the entrance to the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Delta.  It is located off of Highway 4 in Contra Costa County with convenient access to the entire array of Northern California recreation.

 

Antioch has become the heart of Eastern Contra Costa County, offering a variety of employment, shopping and vast recreational activities.  The availability of quality and affordable housing is unsurpassed in the Bay Area. Balanced development includes shopping centers, a golf course, several fine parks, including the family-oriented Prewett Water Park and new schools.  Antioch is one of the last cities in Contra Costa County still building new schools.

The beautiful community of Antioch is nestled in Contra Costa County. Just a few minutes away from interstates 680, 580 and the 5, residents enjoy the easy access to San Francisco/East Bay, Sacramento and the Central Valley. Antioch is rich in history and home to approximately 100,000 residents. This community boasts a great education system providing students in K-12 esteemed schools within the Antioch Unified School District. Nearby colleges are the University of California, Berkeley and the California State University of Hayward. Antioch offers it residents over 294 acres of public parks and recreational areas. There are shopping centers located just minutes away including the Summerville Town Mall, which is located off of Highway 4 and offers a variety of retail stores in addition to several department stores. Antioch also hosts a variety of special events each year including the Contra County Fair every summer, the Rivertown Jamboree every September, a Fourth of July celebration and a lighted boat Christmas Parade every December. Industries of employment include educational, retail trade, professional, scientific, management, administrative and health and social services. Real estate options in Antioch include single-family homes, condominiums and townhomes. Antioch is not just a great community to visit it is the perfect place to call home.

Schools - K12

The Antioch Unified School District offers residents an excellent choice of schools. The district’s goal is “establish school as the place where the individual counts, where no one feels ignored and to provide an environment for learning to flourish.” Numerous programs are offered to meet students’ individual needs such as gifted and talented education classes and special education classes for students with learning, physical and emotional issues. There are currently 14 elementary schools, 5 middle schools and 4 high schools in this district. Several alternative education schools for students with special needs are also located throughout the community. In addition, there are parochial private schools in this area.
 
Schools - Higher Education

For higher education, Antioch offers an Adult Education center that teaches a variety of trades as well as awarding high school diplomas for those who meet the required studies. There are a variety of colleges in the surrounding areas.The local Los Medanos Community College, University of California at Berkeley which is located approximately 45 minutes away; California State University San Francisco and University of California, San Francisco both are located an hour and a half away.
 
Leisure & Recreation

Leisure and recreational opportunities in Antioch include boating, fishing, hiking, swimming, camping, picnicking and more. The Delta is a place where you can camp by the water, swim, ski or travel down the river in houseboats. The Delta is known for prime striped bass and sturgeon fishing. Golfing and tennis are also popular activities. There are two challenging 18-hole golf courses within the city as well as several public and private courses located in the surrounding communities.
 
City & State Parks

The Prewett Family Waterpark Center has five pools, three slides and waterfalls. The Contra Loma Regional Park is a popular hiking, picnicking, boating, windsurfing and swimming spot. The 776-acre facility also features bicycle and equestrian trails and canoe rentals. This expansive park is located at the edge of the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve -- 3,650 acres of local beauty featuring a variety of recreational activities.
 
The Marina & Waterfront

The 310-berth public Antioch Marina is one of the newest in San Francisco Bay area and is an attractive, multi-use facility that is homeport for recreational power and sailboats. Located in eastern Contra Costa County, the Marina is approximately 3 1/4 miles west of the Antioch Bridge.
 
Community Facilities

Antioch is home to numerous cultural groups and community organizations. The Nick Rodriguez Community Center features a theatre that seats 200 people and is used for local theatrical productions, music recitals and other special services. The multi-purpose room seats 200 for banquet style events and is ideal for wedding receptions, family reunions and parties.
