  About Brentwood,

The people of the town of Brentwood value their quality of life. They try to provide services that maintain high standards for the city residents and the business community. The town management seeks to demonstrate a responsibility to the people by being trustworthy and accountable for the taxes collected, while also having a broad enough vision to be expansive when it is called for.

The first people to live in the area were the Native American tribe known as the Bay Miwoks or the Northern Valley Yokuts.  They were peaceful people who enjoyed singing and dancing, and lived mostly on acorn gruel, fish, game, berries and seeds.  They lived in dome shaped houses thatched with tulle.

Residents can see all that remains of this culture by visiting two abandoned village sites, known as Shell mounds.  One is along Indian Slough and marsh Creek roads and the other at the Caves of Vasco.

Brentwood has come a long way from its humble beginnings.  Several large business parks in Contra Costa and Alameda counties are within easy commute distance. These include the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Labs, located in Livermore. Additionally, Brentwood is just 25 miles from the Port of Stockton, a diversified transportation center encompassing a 600 acre operating area.

Located in one of the fastest growing counties in California, Brentwood has had a significant population increase in the past five years and will continue to expand into the next decade.
